Firefighters work to extinguish a mobile home fire Thursday morning on County Road 234 outside Clanton.

Firefighters from Gap of the Mountain and two other agencies responded to a mobile home fire Thursday morning on County Road 234.

No one was injured in the fire that happened past Mountain Spring Cemetery, at the intersection of Chilton County roads 254 and 456.

Everyone inside the home was able to escape before firefighters arrived on the scene. The fire started around 10:15 a.m.

A preliminary investigation showed the fire started in the kitchen, said Chilton County EMA Director Bill Collum.

The home suffered considerable smoke and heat damage, Collum said.

In addition to Gap of the Mountain, Collins Chapel and Union Grove fire departments also responded, as well as Chilton County sheriff’s deputies and RPS ambulance service.
