Julius Rubin Kelley, 76, of Verbena died Tuesday, Aug. 2, 2011, at Shelby Baptist Medical Center in Alabaster.

He was born on Thursday, May 30, 1935, in Chilton County, son of the late James Milton Kelley and the late Pearlie Mims Kelley.

He was a storeowner.

Surviving are his wife, Pat Kelley of Verbena; two sons, Julius (Christy) Kelley of Verbena and Mitt Kelley of Verbena; two daughters, Patricia (Tommy) Taylor of Verbena and Lashonda (Jason) Mims of Verbena; 12 grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and brother, James Kelley of Verbena.

Friends will be received from 5-8 p.m., Wednesday, Aug. 3 at Chestnut Creek Baptist Church.

Services will be held Thursday, Aug. 4 at 11 a.m. at Chestnut Creek Baptist Church with the Rev. Randall Beagles and the Rev. Wendell Kelley officiating.

Interment will follow in Chestnut Creek Baptist Cemetery in Verbena.
