The Clanton 9-and-under Dizzy Dean All-Star team’s run for the World Series championship has come to an end.

The team fell to Northport in an elimination game Monday, 10-0, to finish 2-2 on the tournament.

Coach Jeff Price said he knew the team had its work cut out for it after a heartbreaking loss to Florida state champion Clearwater on Sunday.

“We might could’ve squeezed out another game,” he said. “But once you get in that [consolation] bracket, it’s hard [to come back].”

Despite coming up shorter than ideal, Price said the team wasn’t taking the loss too hard.

Instead, he felt the team had quite a bit to be proud of.

“We ended up second in the state and seventh in the tournament,” he said. “It’s been a great season, and we’re happy. We had super kids and super parents. We played hard, but that’s the way it goes sometimes.”
