Dalton Wayne Connell, age 66, a resident of Camden, died on Friday, July 8, 2011.

Funeral services were held on Monday, July 11, 2011, at 10:30 a.m. at Camden United Methodist Church with the Rev. Ed Shirley and the Rev. Lowell Thomas officiating and Dunklin & Daniels Funeral Home officiating. Burial followed in Camden City Cemetery. The family received friends one hour prior to services at the church.

Mr. Connell was preceded in death by his parents, Dalton and Sarah Connell. He is survived by his wife, Lucretia Connell; sons, John D. Connell (Diana) of Woodstock and Joseph D. Connell of Camden; grandchildren, Mandy Seale (Benton) of Vance and William Sledge (Ashlyn) of Vance; great-grandson, Wallace Cheney Sledge of Vance; sisters, Elaine Penton (Wayne) of Cantonment, Fla. and Christine Martin of Eutaw; and several nieces and nephews.

Pallbearers will be members of his Sunday School class.

Mr. Connell retired from Alabama Power after 44 years with his last position being the local manager in the Camden office. He will be missed by all who knew him.
