The camp Chilton County High School volleyball players went through and Monday Tuesday was grueling.
That was fine by CCHS coach Misty Jones.
If nothing else, the Tigers will at least be in better shape because of the camp, which was hosted at the school by Middle Tennessee State University assistant coach Quan Scott.
“They worked hard [Monday],” Jones said. “They were going over hitting, and they couldn’t even use the ball until they got the technique down.”
The camp focused on passing Tuesday, but both days included an emphasis on communication.
Scott said teams must work together, and communication is the only way they can do so.
“Your team is either going to make you or break you,” Scott said. “Hopefully, it makes them better. It’s a beautiful thing, seeing them progress.”
The lesson will be especially important for the CCHS seniors, Courtney Coburn, Keondra Looney and Kayla Ray.
The Tigers will practice two days a week all summer and will play exhibition matches at Jemison on July 18-19 (junior varsity) and July 25-26 (varsity).
