Peach Run set for Saturday

The eighth annual Peach Run will be held Saturday, June 18 beginning at 7 a.m., starting at Cornerstone Fitness and Wellness.

The run, held in conjunction with the Peach Festival, will continue the dual-format 5K and 10K, and both will follow the same route as last year. Event coordinator Lori Patterson hoped those in town for the Festival would come out and support the race.

“We encourage anyone to come out and watch,” she said.

The run consisted of 80 runners last year, but most were from outside the Chilton County area. Patterson said that was one thing about the event she’d like to see changed.

“We’d like to see more participants from Chilton County in the race,” she said. “We send info out to all run clubs in the state. [Chilton County] has some participants, but the majority come from out of town.”

Cash prizes are awarded to the overall male and female winners, and winners of the four age divisions (0-25, 26-40, 41-55, 56-older) receive some of Chilton County’s best peaches.

Registration is still ongoing, and the cost to enter is $30. For more information, call 280-6450.
