Louise Smitherman, 68, of Maplesville died Sunday, June 5, 2011, at Shelby Baptist Medical Center in Alabaster.

She was born Sunday, April 18, 1943, in Chilton County, daughter of the late William Thomas Carter and the late Naomie Spigner Carter.

She was a homemaker.

Surviving are her husband, William Earl Smitherman of Maplesville; daughter, Lisa Cofer of Clanton; son, Steve “Junior” Smitherman of Maplesville; three grandsons, Brandon Cofer, Ryan Cofer and Jacob Cofer; two granddaughters, Tiffany Smitherman and Taylor Smitherman; three sisters, Shirley Smitherman of Maplesville, Margie Rhodes of Maplesville and Sybil Ahlberg of Maplesville; three brothers, Thomas, Earnest and Gordon Carter of Maplesville.

Friends will be received from 5-8 p.m., Tuesday, June 7 at Mt. Carmel Baptist No. 2.

Services will be held Wednesday, June 8 at 2 p.m. at Mt. Carmel Baptist No. 2 Church with the Rev. Billy Wyatt officiating. Interment will follow in Mt. Carmel Baptist No. 2 Cemetery in Maplesville.
