Offering a variety of classes, the Chilton County Extension Office will have a “Lunch and Learn” in June and is inviting everyone to come out and take part in the hour-long classes.
Now is the chance to learn new tips and skills on how to compost, how to grow easy fruit, make better photos and learn about honeybees.
Gay West, county extension coordinator, and Joan McGriff of the extension office are coordinators of the event.
“I think the classes will be very informative and they will give out a lot of information,” said McGriff. “People can bring their lunch and learn at the same time.”
A different class will be offered each Wednesday in June from noon to 1 p.m.
The classes serve as an outreach into the Chilton County community to provide more things for people to do, McGriff said.
The classes are:
June 1 – “Honeybees” not just about honey. Come hear the buzz. Taught by Bill Evans, master gardener.
June 8 –“Photography” Tips for making better photos. Taught by Becky Tucker, Chilton County News.
June 15 – “Composting” You will receive a handout. Someone will win the composter during the program. Taught by Sondra Henley, master gardener.
June 22 – Easy fruits you can grow. Taught by Gary Gray, commercial horticulture.
Participants are to bring their own lunches, and iced tea will be provided.
Those interested should register by Friday, May 28.
