Isabella standout athlete Austin Haigler plans to play football this fall with the University of Alabama-Birmingham.

Haigler played football (starting at quarterback this season), basketball and baseball for the Mustangs. He was also on the school’s track and field team, and earlier this month, finished third in the state in the javelin throw.

Haigler said he looks forward to playing close to home and for a Division-I school. He hopes to play tight end at UAB, where he will join the team as an invited walk-on.

The Blazers, who compete in Conference USA, open up their season Sept. 10 with a trip to SEC powerhouse Florida.
