Mattie Jean Cleckler, 83, of Jemison died Thursday, May 12, 2011, at Shelby Baptist Medical Center in Alabaster.

She was born Thursday, Aug. 4, 1927, in Chilton County, daughter of the late Jim Cleckler and the late Janie Roberta Mims Cleckler.

She was a homemaker.

Surviving are her six daughters, Barbara Jean Headley (Labon) Turk of Clanton, Christine (Glenn) Roper of Clanton, Janie (William) Brewer of Clanton, Martha (Donald) Wallace of Jemison, Susan (Chris) Cooper of Jones and Loraine (James) Gentry of Clanton; two sons, Robert (Margaret) Cleckler of Clanton and David (Angela) Cleckler of Clanton; 43 grandchildren and great grandchildren; and niece, Margie Barlow of Montgomery.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Houston Cleckler; and son, Doyle Wayne Cleckler.

Services were held Sunday, May 15 at 3 p.m. at Martin Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Wendell Kelley, the Rev. Thurmond Cleckler and the Rev. Wayne Hughes officiating.

Interment followed in Refuge Baptist Cemetery in Clanton.
