Carolyn Paulette “Patsy” Spradlin passed away May 15, 2011, at Chandlers Nursing Home in Alabaster after a long illness. She was 68 years of age.

She was born June 18, 1942, to James Luther Smith, deceased, and Ruby Loese Sewell Smith Baird, deceased.  She was married to the late Bobby M. Spradlin. They had three children.  She was predeceased by a sister, Jeannie Baird; and a daughter, Carla Jo.

She is survived by two sons, Johnny Max Spradlin and Michael Ross Spradlin; three sisters, Shirley Ann Smith Dean (Jimmy), Judy Lane Smith Long (Darwin) and Anita Kay Smith Sullivan (Dennis); a brother, Jimmy Dale Smith; several nieces and nephews who loved her very much; brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Jimmy and Eva Spradlin; sister-in-law, Charlotte; and sister-in-law, Barbara Jean.

Patsy graduated from Isabella High School.  She worked at Hayes Aircraft in Birmingham, then dedicated 26 years of her life to the care of her beloved daughter, Carlo Jo.  After Carla passed away, she went to work in Birmingham at Pizitz Department Store.  After her retirement, she and Bobby moved back to Maplesville. She was a beloved and admired wife, mother, sister and daughter.  Patsy didn’t know the words “quit” or “can’t.”  She was a wonderful Christian lady.  Rest in peace, Patsy.  You gave a strong fight, but God said, “My daughter, come home.” You will be sorely missed.
