A 38-year-old Jemison man is facing multiple charges in connection with recent thefts in the Clanton area.

The case goes back to an April 27 investigation of two residential burglaries on the 800th block of Ware Avenue.

On May 3, Clanton police arrested Kevin Dewayne Peters, who had been out on bond for possession of a forged instrument second degree and illegal possession of prescription drugs through Clanton PD. During the arrest, detectives discovered Peters to be in possession of two large air conditioning units and later discovered several local businesses had been burglarized.

There are six other offenses for which he has now been charged with committing, according to Clanton police.

“The District Attorney’s Office has filed a motion with Judge (Sibley) Reynolds to revoke his bond in the previous charges he was out on bond for,” said Sgt. Cameron Bates of Clanton PD. “It was a team effort, and I appreciate the hard work our entire department gave to this case as they do in other cases.”

Peters is currently in jail on four counts of burglary third degree, two counts theft of property third degree, two counts theft of property second degree, and two counts theft of property first degree with a bond totaling $153,000.
