Peach Queen Jessica Swindle promotes the pageant Friday morning to Chilton County High School students.

Peach Queen Jessica Swindle toured Chilton County schools Friday, encouraging other girls to participate in the pageant.

“I’ve thoroughly enjoyed my time as Miss Peach,” Swindle told several Chilton County High School students. “You’re going to have the time of your life (as a Peach Queen).”

Swindle; her mother, Madeline Swindle; and Peach Festival Chairman Tom Brown traveled to all but one Chilton County school Friday promoting the pageant.

Jessica Swindle told the girls that the pageant was worthwhile because of the scholarship money she earned as well as the experience and confidence she gained from participating.

Applications have been out for a few weeks now, leading up to the mandatory May 1 orientation for all Peach Pageant contestants. The orientation will be held next Sunday at 1:30 p.m. at Helen Parrish Activity Center of Clanton First United Methodist Church on Ninth Street.

Contestants should bring four wallet-size pictures of the same pose, pageant contract, fact sheet, copy of birth certificate and the sponsor/entry fee of $75.

Applications have been distributed at every school and are available at several businesses across town, including The Clanton Advertiser.

The four pageants will be held on June 18-23 at Chilton County High School.
