When the Rotary Club of Chilton County meets on May 18, it won’t feel like a meeting so much as an open house.

“People will get a chance to see what we do here locally,” said Rotary Club President Russ Hamlin.

The Club will be holding a membership drive for those interested in joining.

In addition to the information session, there will be a luncheon held welcoming a Group Study Exchange team from a Rotary Club in India.

“We’re going to host the team for lunch at Mitchell Dam,” said Hamlin. “We sent over a group [to India] to tour their culture, and they do the same.”

The Rotary Club takes part in community service in many ways. The club sponsors scholarships, the Clanton Christmas parade and help with The Clanton Advertiserís Newspapers in Education program. The club also hosts a golf tournament, and The Peach Classic Fishing Tournament coming up in June.

The May 18 meeting will begin at noon at Mitchell Dam. The club normally meets at Grand Ole Cafe in Clanton.
