IHS wins best-of-three series

Isabella took a best two-of-three series from Verbena this weekend, 10-1, and 19-10.

The first game remained scoreless until Isabella scored one run in the third inning when Kaylynn Culp lined a shot off the left field fence, driving in Chelsea Cox.

The Mustangs added three runs in the fourth as Kacie Adams, Ann-Marie Murray and Kinslee Mims scored to stretch the lead to 4-0.

Sarah Woolridge scored in the fifth, yielding a 5-0 lead.

Verbena finally got on the board in the sixth as Victoria Fletcher doubled to the left field fence and scored a couple of batters later.

In the bottom of the sixth, Allison Mims, Kristin Adams, Melony Smith, Sarah Woolridge and Ann-Marie Murray each scored to increase the lead to 10-1.

In the second game, it was all offense for both squads. The Mustangs jumped out to an early 8-2 lead in the first on five walks, two hit batsmen, one error and three hits.

In the third inning, Isabella managed to string two walks, one hit batsman and four hits together to stretch the lead to 12-3.

Verbena narrowed the gap to 15-8 in the fourth, but Isabella added four more runs late to take the 19-10 victory.
