Boys and girls Verbena athletes competed at Cold Spring High School on April 8.

The VHS girls finished with 33 points, good enough for a three-way tie for sixth place at the meet.

Lacey Short finished fourth in the 100-meter dash with a time of 14.02, fourth in the 200-meter dash with a time of 29:40, fifth in the long jump with a 13’7” and eighth in the javelin with a throw measuring 77’8”.

Marqueska Deramus finished second in the javelin with a throw of 113’6”, fifth in the discus with a throw of 76’2.5” and third in shot put with a 31’8.5”.

On the boys side, Fred Wright finished sixth in the 3,200-meter run with a time of 12:51.57.

Duante Talley was fifth in the long jump with a 17’2.5”, and Kelly Dorsett finished sixth in the long jump with a 17’1.5”.

The boys team finished in eighth place overall.
