James Herschel Rhodes, 87, of Clanton died Friday, April 8, 2011. He was born Thursday, July 16, 1923, in Chilton County, son of the late Jessie James Rhodes and the late Lula May Payton Rhodes.

He was owner-operator of Dairy Delite in Montevallo for 20 years.

Surviving are his wife, Bernice Marie Rhodes of Clanton; two sons, Jerry Rhodes of Clanton and Danny Rhodes of Clanton; daughter, Linda Gail Edwards of Clanton; two brothers, Wilton Rhodes and Sammy Rhodes; seven grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.

Friends will be received from 6-8 p.m., Saturday, April 9 at Martin Funeral Home Chapel.

Services will be held Sunday, April 10 at 1 p.m. at Jackson Chapel Church with the Rev. Dennis Smith officiating. Interment will follow in Jackson Chapel Cemetery in Clanton.
