Heritage Day ahead for Maplesville

Maplesville Town Clerk Sheila Haigler thought she would have a fair amount of vendor support for the upcoming Heritage Day. She never knew she’d have this much.
“I’m overwhelmed,” she said with a laugh. “We keep getting more every day.”
Not that she minds the problem. As the event planner, she feels the more vendors at and draws to Heritage Day, the better.
“[Support] has doubled, maybe even tripled,” she said. “We plan on having 60 arts and crafts vendors and 10 food vendors.”
The event was made annual after the Alabama Small Towns and Downtowns celebration last year produced such a good turnout and positive response for those who attended.
“We wanted to bring the town together to teach about the history of Maplesville,” said Haigler.
The event will include a quilt show in the town library, an antique car show, tours of four historic homes, class reunions, and live music and singing from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.
Haigler was reluctant to give an attendance number estimate, but hoped that all who could would stop by.
“I’d hate to have to put a number on it,” she said. “There’s a lot going on [around the area] but we hope that everyone will come and spend time.”
Maplesville Heritage Day will be held April 9 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. For more information, contact Haigler at 334-366-4211.
