During the first week of March, Jemison Elementary students set out on a “search for super energy” in recognition of National Breakfast Week. They were assisted by JES detectives, a.k.a. cafeteria workers. Dianne Wilkins’ team of detectives are Wanda, Linda, Brenda, Pam, Jeannie, Patti, Angela and Heather.

Lead investigator Wilkins read breakfast clues to students each morning. Students enjoyed assisting the detectives in solving breakfast riddles posted on the cafeteria walls. In addition, students were given “magnified” visual clues as they passed through the breakfast line. They were challenged to figure out which breakfast foods were featured in each close-up photo.

Several students and staff were photographed with the trench coat detectives as they search for super energy. Students were also given coloring pages to assist them in their search. Books were displayed to encourage students to read mysteries to sharpen their detective skills.

Lead Investigator Wilkins with her team of detectives successfully followed all the clues and assisted JES students in finding the super energy packed in a healthy breakfast. Although the detectives have moved on to other cases, the students have concluded that a healthy breakfast contributes to success.
