Chilton County, along with most of north and central Alabama, remains under a tornado watch until 8 p.m. Saturday.

The National Weather Service puts Chilton County under a moderate risk of severe thunderstorms, including tornadoes, Saturday afternoon and evening.

There is a threat of long-lived supercells with associated strong tornadoes for areas along and north of Interstate 85 … U.S. 80 corridor.

Severe thunderstorms are likely across all of central Alabama. The severe threat, which includes large hail and damaging winds, will last throughout the afternoon and until the midnight hour.
