Ivan W. Smith, 94, of Prattville died Tuesday, March 22, 2011, at Jackson Hospital in Montgomery.

He was born on Wednesday, Oct. 25, 1916, in Coosa County, son of the late Joseph Smith and the late Annie Harmon Smith.

He was a technician. Mr. Smith was a WWII Army Veteran who fought in the Battle of the Bulge.

He also was awarded the Bronze Star and the Purple Heart.

Surviving are daughter, Mrs. Janice Smith Farr of Birmingham; son, Mr. Van Smith of Billingsley; two granddaughters, Ms. Jani Leigh Farr of Birmingham and Ms. Grace Smith of Clanton; two grandsons, Mr. Will (Brooke) Smith of Birmingham and Mr. Zac Smith of Birmingham; and great grandson, Master Brody Smith of Birmingham.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Mrs. Louise Smith.

Friends will be received from 5-8 p.m., Thursday, March 24 at Martin Chapel.

Services will be held Friday, March 25 at 11 a.m. at Indian Grave Baptist Church with the Rev. Josh Posey, the Rev. Mike McLemore and the Rev. Solomon White officiating.

Interment will follow in Indian Grave Cemetery in Billingsley.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials be made to Indian Grave Baptist Church.
