A fifth inning rally and the relief pitching of Kadie Coker helped Chilton County’s softball team to a 9-5 win Monday over Maplesville.

Down 5-1 after 4 2/3 innings, the host Tigers struck for five runs, keyed by April Lewis’s two-run single.

Lewis would later score in the inning.

MHS was unable to score after Coker came in to pitch in the fifth inning. She walked her first batter but went on to set down the final nine Red Devils in a row, including three strikeouts.

CCHS added three runs in the bottom of the sixth.

Maplesville jumped out to an early three-run lead in the top of the first, but Chilton cut the lead down to two in the bottom of the inning.

The Devils added another run in the third inning when Kiana Andrews,

who went 1-for-3, hit a RBI single to drive home Courtney Killingsworth.

CCHS’s next game is scheduled for tomorrow in Tuscaloosa as they will play Paul Bryant High School.

MHS will host their next game, against Montevallo.
