Isabella’s softball team traveled to Billingsley in both teams’ first area game on March 10 and left with a 13-3 win.
Allison Mims led off the game with a single to center field, scoring on an errant throw to first base on a sacrifice bunt by Ann-Marie Murray. Kristin Adams then doubled home Murray.
The Mustangs (4-1) continued to add to the lead in the second when Chelsea Cox got a hit to center, driving in Kacie Adams and Makaela Littleton.
Isabella’s Kinslee Mims walked in the third before Adams got a hit back up the middle. Littleton reached first on a throwing error, allowing Mims to score.
Adams scored on a passed ball before Allison Mims walked. Cox followed with a base hit up the middle, scoring Littleton and Mims.
While Kaylynn Culp was batting, Cox scored on a passed ball. Culp drew a walk, and Mary Mims was inserted as a courtesy runner for the catcher. She scored on a base hit by Adams.
Before the barrage ended, the Mustangs scored six runs to stretch the lead to 10-0.
Adams led off the fourth with a double over the centerfielder and scored on an inside-the-park home run by Cox.
The Bears (1-3) managed to score three runs in the next two innings to narrow the margin to 12-3 and stymie the mercy rule, but Isabella added a run in the seventh on a solo homerun over the leftfield fence by Culp.
