Relay for Life to hold talent show and silent auction

Relay For Life will be hosting a talent show and silent auction Friday March 25 at Clanton First United Methodist Church.

Organizers say the event will be a combination of Relay For Life fundraisers done previous years.

“The Relay for Life team at First United held a talent show a few years ago, and it had a good turnout,” said event coordinator Elizabeth Byrd. “So Pastor Larry Anderson (also a Relay for Life team member) suggested we give it a shot. Then Karen Smith, another team member, said let’s combine it with a silent auction.”

All proceeds will be donated to the church’s Relay For Life effort. The talent show portion is open to any and all kinds of acts.

“We’re in a church venue, and we want to keep it clean, but anyone is welcome [to sign up],” said Byrd. “We’re asking for $5 donations at the door from attendees, and $10 donations from performers.”

The auction will take place midway through the talent show, and will include donated goods and services (such as a vision screening) and gifts from Morelyn’s.

Acts included in the talent show are the Whistlestop Combo, FUMC’s Youth Band, Gary Mckee, Reagan Vinson, Riley Locke and others.

The event will be held in the Helen Parrish Activity Center at 6 p.m. For more information, contact Byrd at 205-294-2400.
