The Clanton Advertiser’s 2011 Boys Basketball All-Area team features five players with unique skill sets.

Nelson Williams, a senior at Chilton County High School, is a point guard who can dribble circles around defenders and set up teammates for baskets.

Most of Williams’ assists this season went to teammate Grantland Karn, also a center.

Karn possessed the size and shooting ability to score from inside the paint as easily as from beyond the 3-point line.

But Williams would have many other options on the all-area team.

One of those options would be Maplesville senior Matt Hamner, a player similar to Karn in that he has the height of a post player but also a shooter’s touch.

Hamner’s temmate Anthony Johnson, a the all-area team’s only sophomore, is another tall player, but Johnson often could be seen bringing the ball up the court for the Red Devils.

Williams would also look to Jemison junior Trey Bryant, a true shooting guard who opponents gameplanned for because of his ability to knock down 3’s.
