Tigers open season with two wins

Chilton County’s baseball team on Monday won its first two games of the season, 7-6 and 4-1, over Alabama Christian.
In the first game, the Tigers fell behind 3-0 in the top of the second inning but responded with two runs in the bottom half of the frame—without recording a hit.
One walk and two Alabama Christian errors allowed Adam Minor and Chance Calloway to cross home plate.
The visitors added a run in the fifth off Calloway, but CCHS took a 5-4 lead in the bottom of the fifth.
Kip Moore led off with a single, Cameron Cummings singled, and then Craig Headly lifted a sacrifice fly to left field, scoring Moore.
Minor then recorded an infield single, and Trevor Thomas reached base on a dropped fly ball, scoring Cummings. Minor later scored on a walk of Blake Teel.
The Tigers added two runs in the bottom of the sixth inning that allowed them to withstand a seventh-inning rally by Alabama Christian.
Calloway pitched a complete game, striking out seven.
The hosts got another strong pitching performance in the nightcap of the doubleheader, as Cummings went the distance and struck out 14.
Headly drove in two runs with a double.
