Mr. Ellis Everett McDaniel was born June 9, 1931, to the late Jesse and Mary McDaniel. He received his high school diploma on May 20, 1948, from Chilton County Training School. Later, he enlisted in the United States Air Force where he earned the rank of staff sergeant. After receiving an honorable discharge, he attended Alabama A and M University where he received a Bachelor of Science in biology.

For several years, he was employed by Alabama Power Company in Birmingham. “Mr. Mac” as he was affectionately known, was a teacher and bus driver for the Chilton County Board of Education for twenty-six years. After retirement, he spent more time engaged in his favorite activities: spending time with his children, farming, playing with his grandkids, and relaxing with his faithful companion, “Smokey.” Mr. McDaniel was a humble Christian man. He was a member of West End Church of Christ.

Mr. McDaniel was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, Nathaniel Johnson and David McDaniel; and one sister, Ada Flether. His memories will be forever cherished by his son, Allan David Woods; daughters, Elaine (Richard) Warren, Lorraine (Eugene) Pearson, Diane McDaniel, Sharon McDaniel, Clarissa (Marion) Smith and Patrice (Daniel) Peters; siblings, Clarence (Betty Sue) McDaniel, Jessie Mae Singleterry, Beatrice Ellis, Larcenia King, Gussie Saxon, Odell (Donna) McDaniel and Romie Pelham; numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins and, of course, “Smokey.”
