Gertie Mae Powell, 88, a lifelong resident of Clanton, left this life to be with her family in heaven on Feb. 1, 2011. She quietly passed away at home with family by her side.

She was born Thursday, May 4, 1922, in Bibb County, daughter of the late Jadie M. Culp and the late Mattie Frith Culp.

She is survived by her loving son, Jackie Powell.  She is further survived by eight grandchildren, 12 great grandchildren, 20 great-great grandchildren and numerous other relatives and friends.

She shared many great times with her family, and her loving and gentle spirit will be missed.

Visitation will be held Saturday, Feb. 5 from 10-11 a.m. at Martin Funeral Home Chapel.

Memorial service will follow at Pleasant Grove Church in Clanton from 11:30 a.m. to 12:15 p.m.
