Gene Cole, age 55, went home to the Lord on Jan. 21, 2011. He graduated from Holt High School.

He is succeeded in death by his father, Addlee Cole; mother, Mary Jo Pennington Cole; sisters, Mary Lois Fowler and Betty Jo Pritchett; and brother, J.C. Cole.

He is survived by brothers, Russell and Earl Cole; and sisters, Dot Kiker, Lillie Londo and Grace Mathews.

Special thanks and appreciation to Clanton Mental Health, especially Brandi and Diane.

Also, love and appreciation to New Beacon Hospice, especially Barbara, Pam and Clay. Their compassion and concern was exceptional.

We also thank Anniston Receptionist Answering Service, especially Amanda, who was so patient and kind.

Much love to Gene’s neighbors, Nancy, Venus and Kathy, who looked after Gene as if he were family.

We also thank the Civitan Home where Gene’s brother lives as they “adopted” him and were so kind. Special thanks to Diane and Susie.

We very much appreciate The Church at Shelby Crossing for their love and food. True sisters and brothers in Christ.

A memorial service was held at the home of Dot Kiker on Jan. 23 where Chaplain David Deter of New Beacon spoke about Gene. We will forever be grateful for his kindness to Gene and the heartfelt words he spoke.
Gene was a kind and loving man who inspired us all to be better people. He will be missed.
