Charlie C. Gay Jr., 94, of Clanton died Thursday, Jan. 6, 2011, at Hatley Health Care in Clanton.

He was born Tuesday, Feb. 15, 1916, in Alabama, son of the late Charlie C. Gay Sr. and the late Minnie I. Batton Gay.

He was an environmentalist with the Department of Public Health.

Surviving are his daughter, Annette Gay Mullinax of Clanton; granddaughter, Kimberly Pittman of Hartselle; grandson, Steven Mullinax of Maylene; and seven great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Doris Gay.

Friends will be received from 5-8 p.m., Friday, Jan. 7 at Martin Funeral Home Chapel.

Services will be held Saturday, Jan. 8 at 1 p.m. at Martin Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Jay Hurd officiating.

Interment will follow in Martin Memorial Cemetery in Clanton.
