Rip Steven Childress, 44, of Randolph died Monday, Jan. 3, 2011.

He was born Sunday, Sept. 4, 1966, in Alabaster, son of the late Norris C. Childress and Jerrie Riggins Compton.

He was a journeyman with Alabama Power.

Surviving are his wife, Stacie Childress of Randolph; daughter, Whitney Childress of Randolph; son, Brent Childress of Randolph; mother, Jerrie Riggins Compton of Thorsby; and a host of other family and friends.

He was preceded in death by his father, Norris Childress.

Friends will be received from 5-8 p.m., Wednesday, Jan. 5 at Martin Funeral Home Chapel.

Services will be held Thursday, Jan. 6 at 11 a.m. at Union Springs Baptist with the Rev. Steve Johnson and the Rev. Evie Megginson officiating.

Interment will follow in Thorsby Memorial Cemetery in Thorsby.
