Snow should fall late on Christmas

Snow is still likely for Christmas Day, but the white stuff probably won’t begin falling until late in the evening.

“The kids aren’t going to wake up and see snow on the ground,” said John Sirmon, meteorologist with the National Weather Service office in Calera. “It looks like it’s going to happen later now. It looks like late afternoon or maybe even sunset or after.”

Sirmon said rain is forecasted for most of the day Saturday, and the precipitation would transition to snow as the temperatures drop.

NWS forecasts a light dusting to as much as 1/2 inch of snow for parts of Alabama, including Chilton County.
