Funeral services for Charlie E. Mims, 86, were Tuesday, Dec. 14, 2010, at 11:30 a.m. at Radney-Smith Chapel with the Rev. Tim Teague, the Rev. P.J. Jenkins and the Rev. James Long officiating.

Burial followed in Evergreen Cemetery in Sylacauga.

Mr. Mims died Sunday, Dec. 12, 2010. He was a member of the First Church of God of Sylacauga. He owned and operated Mims Car Wash and Laundromat for some 50 years.

After his retirement, he worked in security for Frontier Bank for 10 years.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Lorene Vinzant Mims.

He is survived by son, Wayne Mims of Phoenix, Ariz.; daughters, Shirley Long (husband James) of Rainbow City and Lynn Sasser (husband Richard) of Sylacauga; brother, Norman H. Mims; and sister, Mary M. Epperson, both of Sylacauga; five grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

Pallbearers were Alan Long, Jeff Brasher, Joey Sasser, Tim Sasser, Steven Sasser and Gary Ellison.

Visitation was Tuesday, Dec. 14, 2010, from 10 a.m. until 11:30 a.m.
