Local church to distribute food to families in need

The Clanton Seventh-Day Adventist Church will be giving back and making this Christmas a joyous occasion for others by distributing free boxes of food to families in need.
For about three months, the members of SDA Church have been donating non-perishable foods to the drive.
“Our priority are those unemployed, (who) can’t afford to buy food for their families,” said Treva Radford, director. “But how many boxes we have will be determined by the need in the community.”
The food will be distributed Sunday, Dec. 19 at SDA Church.
Those interested or anyone who knows a family in need can call with the family’s information and make an appointment for pick up.
“The boxes are not the end all,” said Radford. “We’re happy to begin a soup kitchen, and we will be offering financial counseling at the church’s meeting hall. Friendly neighborhood Seventh-Day Adventist is always here to lend a hand.”
