Spreading holiday cheer

We’re still about two weeks away from the big day, but it’s easy to be in the Christmas spirit with all the great things happening in Chilton County.
Events like the four Christmas parades in the county are obvious, and they were enjoyable as always. But there’s much more to Christmas here.
The Winter Wonderland at Jemison First Baptist Church was a great event, and we’re sure we will think the same thing about an old fashioned Southern Gospel Christmas singing at Maplesville United Methodist Church on Sunday, the Festival of Nine Lessons and Carols by the joint choirs of Trinity Episcopal Church and Resurrection Catholic Church on Dec. 15, and a Christmas cantata to be put on by the chancel choir of Clanton First United Methodist Church on Dec. 18.
And nothing says Christmas like helping those in need. Chilton County has an abundance of ways to contribute.
Maplesville is accepting donations for its Toys For Kids program, which provides Christmas presents for families that need help. Call town hall at (334) 366-4211 for more information.
Chilton County United Way supports 25 local agencies and activities, and United Way is still working toward its goal of $200,000 through a drive themed, “Touch A Life…One Person at a Time.” The United Way can be reached by calling 755-5875.
However you do it, we hope you’re enjoying the holiday season.
