Doyle J. Smitherman, 88, of Clanton died Monday, Dec. 6, 2010, at Prattville Health & Rehabilitation, LLC in Prattville.

He was born Sunday, July 9, 1922, in Chilton County, son of the late Alfred L. Smitherman and the late Berthie Chism Smitherman.

Surviving are his daughter, Charlotte O. Bass of Prattville; three granddaughters, Carla B. Cleckley of Clanton, Cory Ausborn of Prattville and Dee Dee Ousley of Prattville; grandson, Mr. Chris Baker of Clanton; six great grandchildren; and one great-great grandchild.

Friends will be received from 9:30-10:30 a.m. Wednesday, Dec. 8 at Martin Funeral Home Chapel.

Graveside services will be held Wednesday, Dec. 8 at 11 a.m. at Sardis Baptist Cemetery with the Rev. Tony Smitherman officiating.
