Thorsby’s varsity basketball teams successfully defended their home court against Billingsley on Friday night.

The ladies were up first. The Rebels’ offense and defense were effective against the Bears, as THS outscored BHS, 57-24.

Thorsby’s star junior guard, Sharonda Cooper, scored 18 of the Rebels’ 31 points in the first quarter.

The hosts pulled even further away in the second, which they finished with a 36 to 10 lead.

The Rebels expanded their lead to 49-18 in the third quarter.

Cooper finished the game with a season-high 30 points, while none of the Bears finished with more than five points.

The result of the boys game was similar, as THS defeated the Bears, 73-53.
The game was close after one quarter, as the Rebels led 16-13.

The Rebels pulled ahead in the second quarter and finished the half leading 40 to 27.

The third quarter was the only period that the Bears had a positive point output, as they outscored the Rebels by 5 points. All 20 of the Bears points came from the right hand of BHS junior Alex Tyus, who had a game-high 27 points.

THS Sophomore Parker Bryan finished the game with a team-high 20 points.

The Rebels’ varsity teams, which are both 3-1, will travel to Marion to face Frances Marion on Dec. 10. The Bears’ will host Isabella on Dec. 14.
