Gertrude E. Spigner, age 87, of Maplesville passed away on Dec. 3, 2010, at her residence. Mrs. Spigner was born on April 6, 1923, in Chilton County, the daughter of the late Ross Rhodes and the late Lula Hicks Rhodes.

She was a homemaker.

She is survived by daughter, Thelma (Jimmie) Payton of Billingsley; daughter, Leda Ann (Jerry) Green of Maplesville; son, William (Peggy) Spigner of Maplesville; son, Jim (Beverly) Spigner of Billingsley; son, Thomas Earl (Susan) Spigner of Maplesville; brother, William Rhodes of Maplesville; 20 grandchildren; and 40 great grandchildren.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Gene Spigner; son, Sammie Spigner; daughter, Betty Clark; grandson, Stanley Payton; and granddaughter, Lynn Spigner.

Visitation will be held Saturday, Dec. 4 at 1 p.m. at her residence located at 3458 Co. Road 15, Maplesville.

Funeral services will be held Sunday, Dec. 5 at 3 p.m. from the Pilgrim Rest Baptist Church with the Rev. Joey Green officiating.

Burial will follow in Pilgrim Rest Baptist Cemetery in Maplesville with the Ellison-Mims Funeral Home of Clanton directing.
