The Clanton Police Department wants to remind everyone of the city’s Christmas parade route and the interruption in traffic flow that will occur Friday, Dec. 3.

The parade begins at 6 p.m., but plan on affected roads being closed and traffic diverted by at least 5:45 p.m.. The parade route is as follows:

•Start in Fred’s Shopping Center proceeds west on 4th Avenue for two blocks;
•Right turn on 6th Street north to 5th Avenue;
•Left Turn on 5th Avenue west to U.S. 31;
•Left turn on U.S. 31 South to Jackson Avenue;
•Left turn on Jackson Avenue to 6th Street;
•Left turn on 6th Street to 3rd Avenue;
•Right turn on 3rd Avenue to Park Plaza Shopping Center.

Police Chief Brian Stilwell recommends people who need to travel through Clanton during the parade times need to try to utilize Ollie Avenue, Enterprise Road, Lake Mitchell Road, 8th Street (weight restricted bridge), and Logan Road to get around parade traffic. U.S. 31 will be shut down between 5th Avenue North and Jackson Ave.

“The Christmas Parade is a great event for the city, and I am asking for everyone’s patience with the traffic flow through town. I will have officers directing traffic at every intersection along the parade route to assist,” said Stilwell.

As for Thursday, at least 60 groups have signed up to participate in the parade.
