Christmas in Clanton: Tree lighting, entertainment Thursday

Bring in the Christmas spirit with the Clanton community by attending the Clanton Tree Lighting on Thursday, Dec. 2.

This annual holiday event will be held at Corner Park on Second Avenue and Sixth Street. Children will have the opportunity to take pictures with Santa beginning at 5 p.m. by Looking Glass Photography. Those interested will have the option of choosing between a $5 or $10 photo package.

Live entertainment will be provided at 6 p.m. Probate Judge Bobby Martin will say the welcome, and organizer Barry Rowe will introduce the emcee of the event, Sally Pitts from WSFA TV.
Entertainment for the event includes: CMS Dance Team; Payton Knight; Just Twirl It Dance/Baton; Victory Baptist Church Children’s Choir; Senator Cam Ward lighting the official city of Clanton Christmas Tree; FUMC Clanton Children’s Choir; Attitudes Dance Group; and Jerry, Crystal and Grayson Russell.

The actual tree lighting will begin at 6:30 p.m.

“Last year we had about three to four hundred people attend, said Susan Rickles, secretary in the building office. “We’re expecting about the same this year.”
