Margie Louise Bates, 84, of Clanton died Wednesday, Nov. 17, 2010, at Hatley Health Care in Clanton.

She was born Tuesday, Sept. 7, 1926, in Chilton County, daughter of the late James Corbet Riggins and the late Susan Iona Lowery Riggins.

She was a beautician.

Surviving are her two sons, Terry (Debbie) Bates of Clanton and Kenny (Angie) Bates of Clanton; daughter-in-law, Lonnie Bates of Clanton; eight grandchildren; nine great grandchildren; and sister, Lorene Mims of Clanton.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Jeff Bates; son, Tom Frank Bates; two sisters and three brothers.

Friends will be received from 6-8 p.m., Thursday, Nov. 18 at Martin Funeral Home Chapel.

Services will be held Friday, Nov. 19 at 2 p.m. at Providence No. 2 Baptist Church with the Rev. Glenn Bonds officiating.

Interment will follow in Providence No. 2 Baptist Cemetery.
