Girl hit by car still listed in critical condition

The Jemison girl who was struck by a vehicle Wednesday evening was still in critical condition at Children’s Hospital in Birmingham on Friday, but her condition has improved since she was first admitted, according to Jemison Middle School Principal Mark Knight, who visited the hospital on Friday.
René Gigandet, 10, is a fifth grader at JMS.
She was struck by a vehicle near her residence on County Road 42 about 5 p.m. Wednesday. According to an initial investigation by the Jemison Police Department, the driver was not at fault.
