Full-time city of Clanton employees were given a 3 percent cost of living raise Monday.

The city council approved the raise, which will be effective Nov. 18.

Mayor Billy Joe Driver said the city wasn’t able to provide raises the past two years.

In other business, the council opened bids on a new city vehicle. Stokes Automotive had the low bid for the 2011 Dodge Grand Caravan. The van chosen costs $19,721.

The council tabled a decision whether to charge (and if so, how much) an adult football league to use the little league field for games and practice.
