With a patriotic theme, the 21st annual Miss Chilton County Pageant will be Friday and Saturday, Nov. 5-6, at the Chilton County High School Auditorium.

The categories Little and Young will be held Friday night, and Junior and Miss will be held Saturday, with a total of 86 contestants competing for the four crowns.

“The purpose of the Miss Chilton County Pageant is to promote farming in the county and the state,” said Barry Rowe, pageant coordinator. The winner will make numerous appearances at festivals and fairs, promoting Chilton County farmers and the industries.”

This is the first year the pageant will be held in November instead of July.

“The pageant is being held early this year in order to be in conjunction with Farm City Week because this pageant is the preliminary to the Miss Alabama Agriculture Pageant,” said Rowe. “The winner of this pageant will be competing in the Miss Alabama Agriculture Pageant.”

Last years’ Miss Chilton County winner, Allison Cobb, went on to win Miss Alabama Agriculture.

The winners of the Miss Chilton County pageant will receive prizes including: a $2,000 cash scholarship to Miss Chilton, $1,000 to the Junior winner and a $500 savings bond to the Young and Little winners, in addition to prize packages donated from local businesses.

The Clanton Evening Lions Club, who is also sponsoring the pageant, is donating the cash prizes.

“We encourage the community to come out and support the event,” said Rowe. “The girls have been rehearsing all week long and have worked hard. We’re looking forward to a good crowd and to see who is selected as the new four queens.”

The pageant will begin at 6:30 p.m. both nights. Admission is $6.
