Flu season is approaching and the Chilton County Health Department is ready to start administering flu shots.
Beginning Friday, Oct. 22, the health department will have flu shot clinics from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m.
“Children and people who are high risk need to get them early in October or November,” said Ludean Hicks, clinic supervisor.
The vaccine is $15 and those insured by Blue Cross Blue Shield, Medicaid or Medicare are covered.
There are about 400 doses available at this time, so the clinics are available by appointment only.
“We have the combined shots here,” said Hicks. “It’s the H1N1 and the flu shot combined in one shot and we will be getting more in.”
The recommended ages for the shots are 6 months and up.
The clinics will be held for the next three Fridays, Oct. 22 and 29 and Nov. 5.
