Myra Faye “Nancy” Deavers

Myra Faye “Nancy” Deavers, 70, of Billingsley passed away on Friday, Oct. 8, 2010, at UAB Hospital in Birmingham.
Nancy was born on Oct. 25, 1939. She was preceded in death by her parents, Clyde and Sudie Mae Chandler; and siblings, Francis Mims, Gordon Ray “Pete” Chandler and Willie Pearl Williamson.
She is survived by her husband of 53 years, Vernon Deavers of Billingsley; daughter, Jan (David) Mize of Tuscaloosa; daughter, Joanna Causey of Port St. Joe, Fla.; daughter, Pam (Mark) Gossett of Centre; sisters, Ruth Chandler of
Montgomery and Ann (Frank) Johnson of Millbrook; grandchildren, Annabel Faye Causey, Brandon Bonner, Cade and Camryn Gossett; special aunt, Vera Donna; several nieces and nephews; and a large extended family and friends.
In the hope to help others, Nancy made the gift of total body to the Anatomical Donor Program at the University of Alabama at Birmingham.
A memorial service will be held at Billingsley Baptist Church on Saturday, Oct. 23, 2010, at 2 p.m.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial gifts to the UAB Dept of Neurology-Stroke Research, 350E Sparks Center, 1530 3rd Ave., Birmingham, AL 35294-0017. Family will be notified of gifts.
