Bertie Jo Moore Ray

Bertie Jo Moore Ray of Clanton left this world on Sept. 27, 2010, from the comfort of her own home.

Born Bertie Jo Moore on July 24, 1931, to the late Minta and Peyton Moore, she was one of 10 siblings. She was married to the late Charles Noel Ray for 42 years.

She worked for many years and retired from Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Alabama. She continued to jaunt across the country with a retired group called the Trailblazers. She was a member of Walnut Grove United Methodist Church of Clanton.

Bertie Jo Ray was extremely proud of her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. She is survived by three daughters and sons-in-law, Donna and Tim McDow, Sharon and Tim King and Lisa and Bruce Witt. She is also survived by 20 grandchildren and eight great grandchildren.

One grandchild is waiting for her in heaven.

On Thursday, Sept. 30, Martin Funeral Home in Clanton will open the doors for visitation at 10 a.m. with the service immediately following at 11 a.m.

She will be buried at Moore Cemetery in McCalla where family and friends are invited to gather at 4 p.m. for a time of sharing.

No formal graveside service is scheduled.
