Penalties cost Billingsley a chance to steal a win at Vincent on Friday.

The hosts won, 14-8.

Vincent led 14-0 for most of the game until a 21-yard touchdown run by sophomore Devon Hardy in the third quarter.

Hardy also ran in the 2-point conversion.

Billingsley (1-2, 1-1 Class 2A, Region 4) had a chance to at least tie the game and possibly take the lead on a 4th-down-and-goal play from the 1-yard line in the fourth quarter. Two consecutive false start penalties backed up the Bears, and they couldn’t score.

Senior Ted Goodson was Billingsley’s most productive offensive player, rushing for 89 yards on 20 carries.

Juniors Carlos Caver, Octavis Harris and A.J. Tyus each recorded seven tackles for BHS.
Caver and Harris each had two tackles for loss, and Tyus had one stop behind the line of scrimmage.
