A health fair will be held Wednesday, Sept. 1 from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Cornerstone Fitness and Wellness.

The event will feature free screenings, including those for blood pressure, blood sugar, body mass index and body fat percentage. There will also be information on nutrition, as well as giveaways and refreshments.

In all, 19 vendors, including groups for Chilton Medical Center, Brookwood Medical Center and Shelby Baptist Medical Center will be represented. There will also be information from local physicians, orthopedic surgeons, HealthSouth, home health agencies, medical supply companies and insurance companies.

“It’s a good number of people,” said Barry Baker with Cornerstone.

Baker said the health fair kicks off several free events through the month of September. Cornerstone has planned seminars and programs on orthopedic, cardiovascular and kidney health; arthritis; financial planning and protecting your assets; and other topics.

“The whole month of September, we’ll have something going on,” Baker said.
