Devils win first volleyball match

Maplesville came from two sets down on Tuesday to win its first volleyball match, 3-2 (19-25, 20-25, 25-14, 26-24, 15-12).

“The team displayed a determination that could not be denied,” coach Kathy Plumb said. “The girls knew they had to win three games in a row, so they set about doing just that.”

Team leaders were Victoria Lawson (four aces, 11 kills and 12 digs), Courtney Baugh (four aces, including one to win the match, two kills and 18 digs) and Alisha Blackmon (three aces, three kills and 12 digs).

Maplesville plays Thursday at Jemison.
